Petra Barguss-Comerford

Petra Barguss-Comerford is a contemporary British artist known for her large-scale ink and watercolor works depicting ethereal female silhouettes suspended within richly aqueous and decorative finishes.

Her studies at Chelsea School of Art in London and UWE in the UK specializing in fashion textile design, surface pattern, and anatomical life drawing, continue to inform her highly evocative compositions Embodying sensuality, femininity, and quiet strength, her work weaves together elements of symmetry, ornamentation, and implied sisterhood through layered textures and intricate detail.

Having lived in Asia and traveled extensively, Petra draws inspiration from the oceans of Southeast Asia, the cave paintings of Uluru, Australia, and elements of Eastern spiritualism. In contrast, other monochromatic works accented with gold embellishment are inspired by the glamour, hedonism, and vintage elegance of classic James Bond films.
